Bonus Event: Meet author Linda Porter to talk about her latest book, The Thistle and the Rose: the Extraordinary Life of Margaret Tudor.

Thursday 8 May, 2.30 pm – Star Room, John Gray Centre, Haddington.

Haddington’s History Society is thrilled to welcome historian and author Dr Linda Porter to talk about her latest book, The Thistle and the Rose: the Extraordinary Life of Margaret Tudor.

This neglected queen of Scots, wife of James IV and sister of Henry VIII, was a key player in Anglo-Scottish diplomacy in the first half of the 16th century, treading a thorny path between the Scottish lords and her obstructive brother, Henry VIII of England.

Margaret has a local connection. In 1503 she stayed the night at St Mary’s Cistercian Abbey, Haddington, on her way to marry James IV.

Book your ticket at Eventbrite. Registration Free with £5 payment at the door.
