Dates for the Diary: Autumn events in, and around, Haddington

New Beginnings: Scottish Emigration in the 19th Century by Professor Marjory Harper, Saturday 23rd November, 11am, Star Room, John Gray Centre, Haddington. Entry donation: £2 – Refreshments will be available.

Historic Routes and Roads: finding your way on Scotland’s maps. An Illustrated talk by Paula Williams Friday 29th November 2.15 pm in the Star Room, John Gray Center Haddington

Paula is Curator for Map, Mountaineering & Polar, at the National Library of Scotland. From the earliest maps of Scotland, through the construction of Wade’s roads, to postal routes and toll roads we will look at how travel has changed the map of Scotland. Using images from the National Library of Scotland’s collection, curator Paula will show how routes and roads were gradually added to maps.
